Annual GRMC Auxiliary Wreath Raffle Sales Begin

Welcome the holiday season with the annual holiday wreath raffle sponsored by the Grinnell Regional Medical Center Auxiliary. The auxiliary will sell raffle tickets for 30 large holiday and winter wreaths, decorated by area businesses and volunteers. Wreaths measure 22 inches in diameter and will fashion a wide variety of themes – from traditional, whimsical and contemporary.

Beginning December 1, wreaths will be displayed at GRMC in the entrance hallways by The Glass Gift Box and laboratory waiting area. The drawing for wreaths will be Friday, Dec.19.

This fundraiser for the GRMC Auxiliary supports its various medical center and health education programs, including $15,000 in scholarships, major equipment gifts to the medical center, books and gifts to newborns at the Kintzinger Women’s Health Center, and health education such as the Women’s Health Focus.

“In 2008 we’re celebrating our 10th anniversary for the auxiliary’s Holiday Wreath Raffle. This fundraiser has been so successful over the years. We have many talented individuals who have donated their time to create lovely wreaths that have generated more than $8,000 to the auxiliary programs. We truly appreciate everyone’s support for the auxiliary and medical center,” says Bev Hatcher, auxiliary wreath raffle committee chair. “This holiday display will be absolutely stunning for the holidays inside GRMC.”

Raffle tickets may be purchased at The Glass Gift Box, the auxiliary’s gift shop inside the medical center, for $1 each or 6 for $5, beginning Monday, Dec. 1.

For more information call the auxiliary wreath raffle chair, Bev Hatcher, at 623-5058 or the GRMC volunteer coordinator at 236-2588.

Hospital Announces Matching Donation for Annual Fund

Grinnell Regional Medical Center has received a $25,000 matching grant from an anonymous donor toward the 2008 annual fund drive.

The donor will match all gifts and pledges, dollar for dollar, to the annual fund made by Dec. 31, 2008, up to a total of $25,000.

“The confidence that this anonymous donor has shown in the medical center by offering this challenging grant is very uplifting. We’re excited by the benefits this donation can provide to sustain hospital services,” says Mindy Uitermarkt, director of development. “The challenge gives this annual campaign a significant boost during these tough economic times. This generous grant enables donors to, in effect, double the impact amount of their contribution.”

To qualify for the match, gifts must either be received in the Office of Development at the medical center by 5 p.m. Dec. 31, or have a postmark of Dec. 31.

Each year, the GRMC annual fund supports the hospital’s services and programs and is an important source of revenue for the medical center. GRMC is a non-tax supported, nonprofit organization. Gifts to the annual fund are tax deductible as permissible by law.

Anyone who would like to make a donation to this fund-raising effort should send it in care of Uitermarkt at Grinnell Regional Medical Center, 210 4th Ave., Grinnell, Iowa 50112 or by calling 641-236-2961.
