Gala ~ Reflections

Saturday, July 26, 2008 • Grinnell College Harris Center

A gala fund-raising event will be held on July 26, 2008, in honor of the 40th anniversary of the merger of two hospitals into what we now know as GRMC. Tickets for the event are $125 each. The evening features hors d’ oeuvres, a sit-down dinner, and dancing to a nine-piece orchestra. A silent and live auction will also be held.

19th Annual GRMC Golf Outing
Friday, Aug. 8 • Grinnell Golf and Country Club

If you love to golf and have a great time while supporting a great cause, we need you! Golfers and sponsors are invited to join us for this annual event. This year we’ll play: 9 holes in the morning and 18 holes in the afternoon. Both sessions will be played in a best-shot format in teams of four. Tee times are 9 a.m. and noon. Need your car seat adjusted to fit your growing child? Join the staff from Kintzinger Women’s Health Center as they host a free inspection. Let a certified inspector check your car and car seat for proper installation. This service is free to anyone who transports small children in their vehicle. Stork’s Nest Parenting Classes

Becoming a new mother brings much change. The Stork’s Nest offers educational classes on pregnancy, childbirth, parenting, and infant care to help new moms bring a healthy baby into the world. Having a healthy baby starts with a healthy mother. This public health program provides prenatal education and support, nutrition, dental, and social assessments for pregnant women. The program also assists with finding a physician and funding for prenatal care. Free to those within income guidelines. Dental hygienist clinic is available. Child Health Services

Child Health is a program that provides financial assistance for physical exams and dental care for children birth to age 21 who do not qualify for Medicaid or hawk-i benefits or who have insurance with a high deductible.
Clinic includes dental services. During those times, a dental hygienist provides dental screenings, oral health education and fluoride varnish applications (to prevent tooth decay). These services are available to any child 0 to 21 years of age or pregnant women up to two months postpartum. Screenings are free and fluoride varnish costs are covered for those with Medicaid. WIC is a supplemental program that helps families purchase nutritious foods and formulas at no cost to pregnant women and children under the age of five. Nutrition advice from registered dietitians is also provided.

All Grinnell clinics also include dental clinics.
